During the interview, the hypnotist employs specific, non-leading questioning techniques to avoid contaminating the witness's memory. The goal is to enhance the natural recall process, potentially bringing back sensory details—sights, sounds, smells, and feelings—that were peripheral to the conscious mind at the time of the event.
